I'm fascinated by some of the more 'cryptic' lyrics in Angel Down. One line in particular is in 'Our Love is a Lie'. And it's -- 'Five o'clock in the morning, floating over my bed'. To me that sounds like Sebastian is an astral traveller. I remember reading in an interview he did a long time ago him saying something like -- "You know how Eddie Vedder talks about astral travelling? Well I do that every night on stage. I leave my body and I'm up there watching everybody and then I come down on my notes. It's the best feeling!" I envy him if he does astral travel. It would be SO cool. Did anyone else think of that when they heard these lyrics? Any of you astral travel?

Well Great question Butts truthfully I too have wondered the same thing about some of the lyrics on Angel Down, and from what Sebastian has said about his father in interviews, and how November 20th was an important date and he did not know why & then his Mother found the invitation and how he see's his father every night I can see he is obviously a very spiritual person, and so would not surprise me at all if he was an astral traveler...

Yay, a fellow believer. Thanks for responding Aussiegirl. And I agree with you too. There's been quite a few things Sebastian has said in interviews over the years that reveals a spiritual side to him. And there are so many things in the 'Angel Down' CD that you can read that way. It's one of the reasons I love the man and his music. I'm surprised there hasn't been more said about it, and the lyrics generally, under this 'Angel Down' section. Do the others not see it or just not want to talk about it do you think? (Sorry if I'm offending anyone there.)

This is an interesting thread I think they are called OBE's? Did some research years back [been a while though]. Interesting stuff, If you read about some of the things these people see while they are out of their body. Definintely a spiritual connection. [some of it freaks me out] Once knew a guy who not only had OBE's but could read minds. Honestly, he sat and said the silly stuff I was thinking. No way could he have come up with that stuff on his own. lol There are a few comments over on the Angel Down section butts. Not sure why there are not more. Need more people like you ;D

Thank you for replying Kat.
I had to laugh when I read that bit about you knowing a man who not only astral travels but who can also read minds. I know someone who does that with me too and I can talk to him for hours on end about all the things he experiences whilst in the astral. It's truly an amazing place, isn't it, sometimes beautiful and even a bit scary at times. When I hear those bits, I think, OK well maybe it's just as well I can't seem to leave my body too, lol.
I actually remember reading something beautiful you once said in a thread about 'By Your Side' that touched me very deeply and made me wonder if you're into spirituality as well. It was something about wondering if that muted bit at the end of the song is Sebastian's way of representing communication between this reality and the other one where his father now lives. I really wanted to respond to that but didn't quite know how at the time. I could see exactly what you mean by that though and it's a beautiful thought.
I love hearing that you can see all the spiritual connections in 'Angel Down' like Aussiegirl and I do too. He's an amazing man isn't he? So complex -- so much more than people see on the outside.

I guess people are afraid to talk about Spiritual things and Astral Travel because they are never sure how others will react to such a thing... funny when Shows like John Edwards and Other Psychic & Medium shows are so popular these days. That people still have such a fear. Specially of Astral Travel as such... I've read that we all do it anyway every night when we go to sleep. It's just that some of us have the ability to remember it and do it whenever we want. For the rest of us, what we experience can come back to us as a dream instead.
But I do see a very spiritual side to Sebastian specially in his songs... You are right Butts he is an amazing man....

I think that line " five o´clock in the morning, floating over my bed" has a simpler (not sure thats a word:)?) meaning than we think. I think it means: Still up, still feeling the high of whatever stuff you did the night before.....thats what I get:)

I have just been reading all these posts about Sebastians spiritual side and all I can say is GOOD FOR YOU BUTTS! for having the gutts to bring this up! I too have noticed and wondered but never wanted to say anything for fear of being ridiculed but reading these posts made me realise a few things. Not only has Sebastian had the gutts to mention it in his interviews and lyrics but he has also released video clips touching on the subject as well such as Quicksand Jesus, Into Another & Breaking Down. If Sebastian has put it out there then he must be cool with these issues being discussed. If he's not afraid then why should we? So often he has inspired me to be true to myself and my beliefs so here I am supporting the suggestian that Butts has raised. And for anyone to suggest that it is inappropriate to be discussed is like telling Sebastian that his videos, lyrics, and feelings he has shared in his interviews & music about this subject is inappropriate and I'd like to see anyone dare tell him that to his face!! And if anyone doesn't want to discuss it for whatever reason then just don't. Although sometimes the greatest revelations & freedom can come out of debates. So thank you Butts, Aussie Girl, Katkick, Jo Jo and of course Sebastian for releasing another layer of confidence within me to be out and proud about this side of my being. ;D Peace Love and Rock,n,Roll!!!

Wow, looks like Sebastian has got a lot of 'spiritual friends' out there in the world. And is an inspiration for them. That's so cool.
Welcome to the Board mightymouse1, and thank you.

That is so true with me too, I always wonder if other people get the same thing I do out of a song, it is really interesting to have other people let you in to their version of what the lyrics mean. I also think sometimes when an event or person mean a lot to you, you personalize the lyrics to your own life, which if I was an artist I would want people to do. I think it is so cool that musicians can make music that transcends time. I mean I still get tears in my eyes when I hear "I Remember You" that is pretty powerful! Baz's music does that for me, and it is the reason I admire him so much as an artist. I think that line " five o´clock in the morning, floating over my bed" has a simpler (not sure thats a word:)?) meaning than we think. I think it means: Still up, still feeling the high of whatever stuff you did the night before.....thats what I get:) Interesting subhuman. I might be way off track here, lol. To me, it's about being awake at 5am, unable to sleep (maybe stoned?), with mind wandering off into odd thoughts. I have a feeling (only my personal opinion, mind you) that the subject matter is rather more 'earth-bound' than astral travelling, simply because of the rest of the lyrics.
It would be interesting to hear from Sebastian what is behind the lyrics - we're all give meaning to them based on our own frame of reference, so it would be good to find out 'from the horse's mouth'.

i remember sebastian saying once that of course he has his own meanings behind his songs but he doesn't say b/c he likes for everyone to have their own opinion b/c what it means for him may be something different to his fans. i can't remember exactally how he put it into words but it was something like that anyway.

Did everyone know that the song is co-written, so it is quite possible that Desmond Child, not Baz is the one who wrote that line?

I apologize if I've offended anyone by starting this thread, the theme being what I think is one of the most beautiful things in human beings -- spirituality. And I, personally, love the fact that Sebastian appears to be interested in these areas as well.
And now it seems I made the mistake of bringing another unwelcome element into the discussion as well by mentioning the word "sex". Why this other beautiful aspect of the human experience is also considered offensive, I do not understand.
If I have offended more people than I've been made aware of, could you please PM me to let me know why. Or even better, add a post to this thread. And if I find that there's a few of you out there that object to what I've done, I'll stop mentioning such things. Peace to you all.

butts here's how i view it ok...... i don't see it as an argumentive factor or offensive only a difference in opinions and to me that's what keeps things interesting. again see.....that's MY honest opinion which others at the board would not agree with see my point? i can't really answer for anyone else but to me if we all thought alike and had the same opinion it would be a very boring place. i've learned in all my years at the board from time to time things are bound to come up that other ppl disagree with which has happened with me and i just skip over the whole conversation. i come here for the enjoyment of reading other fans experiences and read about baz and what he has going on. i have very serious issues i deal with every day on a day to day basis so when i come here i tend not to get all serious about what other's have posted so you apologizing for posting is not even necessary really....you haven't broke the rules you just posted something that someone had a different opinion about and again this is only my opinion so just leave the thread go and the whole situation will eventually die down i guess is all i can say. jojo

since the board is seen by all ages, we don't normally post anything about sex etc. about the closest we've gotten in recent past was when Baz was interviewed somewhere and they asked him about comic book characters (since he's a huge fan) something like, 'who would be the 3 characters he'd like to sleep with'. I remember one. .. Cherry Pop Tart. LOL (and all the playboy stuff recently ) *
