FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE!!
ATTENTION: The March 14th Guns N' Roses show in Rio De Janeiro at Apoteose Stadium has been officially canceled for this evening due to the stage collapsing because of heavy rains. Stay tuned for more info and possible rescheduling information as we receive it. There is a possibility the show may be rescheduled for tomorrow night March 15th or at a later date. There fortunately are no fatalities but there are injuries from both our camp and Rio crews the extent of which is not known at present. The Rio Fire Dept is evacuating crews out of the venue to avoid further injuries with the heavy rains and winds. Details are just coming in. Also a truck w/part of The Sebastian Bach Band's gear has rolled on the trip from Sao Paulo to Rio what is our understanding several times and we are awaiting details on the safety of the driver at this time. Thank you for your understanding and please be safe out there. Thank you. Axl Rose-

Update from Axl. Guess it couldn't be too bad if he's making crappy jokes about it. Don't suppose it helps to get too down about it at this stage though. Hope there's an update about Sebastian's gear and the bus driver soon though. RIO UPDATE: They're now saying the venue actually experienced a minor tornado. Either that or regional Global media blowing usual hot air. J/k !! Love, El Gordo!! Re El Gordo, apparently the media have been saying he's fat, hehe. I sooooo want to know how Sebastian's bus driver is though, and all the others who they say may be injured. And his gear!!

my goodness that is horrible, at least it sounds like everyone is ok as in no fatalities, by the looks of that pictures it could have been far worse....

I was there. It was pouring down rain, winds from every and each fucking where, it was crazy. CRAZY! Gladly no one got hurt and the show will be rescheduled. I trully believe this show won't be canceled, but just moved to another date.

I just got home from the venue! I was among the dozens of thousands of people waiting for the venue gates to open ... the line was very big, we all were happy and the vibe was the best possible! The line was HUGE.... i think at least 30,000 peole were going to attend this show! I was standing far away from the gates, I could not see a thing!! Around 6:15 PM (Local Time)... a heavy thunderstorm struck the city, all people waiting in the line got soaked (inlcuding me!) but that was not a problem for us, people were so excited about the show that the rain was actually funny and refreshing ( it was hot as hell!!). But then, some confusion took over the place, as several people near us claimed that the rain had destroyed the stage and that there were casualities!! Everyone got scared and confused.... we didn't know if it was some kind of prick or if it was true... but them I got a phone call from my mother that the local TV had confirmed that the show was cancelled! The stage structure fell on top of the VIP sector....had the gates been opened before, a massive disaster could have happend!!! We all were lucky in a way..... I dont know if they are going to re-schedule the concert, but my ticket got destroyed in the storm anyway! There was no way to protect It...it was a freaking thunderstorm.... I am deeply sad right now, I was so excited to see Baz and GNR perform in my country... now i don't know if i'll have that chance again!!

I'm so sad for both of you.....and SOOO glad you weren't IN the venue when this happened! Like you said, it could have been far, far worse if people had been allowed in. I dread to think. But Mascheroni, your ticket got destroyed??? What happens if they DO reschedule the show? Will you be able to go, and will you get in if your ticket is ruined? And you Wizard, did you have the same problem???

I left it inside my wallet in my pocket, but my paints got so wet, that the ticket split in three pieces!! Hopefully they will accept it, as the bar code seems to be intact! In my opinion, if they do reschedule the concert, It will only happen in April... I wonder if Baz will be here too....

They are saying over on the gnrforum that it might be moved to another indoor venue and go ahead tomorrow night. If that happens, will you be able to go?

And you Wizard, did you have the same problem??? Well, my ticket got wet, even though it was inside an envelope on my backpack. But it's ok. You can see them (Mine and my Brother's) on this link: twitpic.com/18no6b ;D It was impossible to protect the ticket even with my raincoat on! Where did you read this about moving it to an indoor venue? And if they moved it to another date/venue, I hope you can attend, Mascheroni! And we must exchange phone numbers to meet up there!

Wizard they are talking about it over on the MyGNR forum and then there's this from Axl below. Here's the link to the forum if you want to keep a check there too. www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?showtopic=161285&st=180There's also been another update from Axl and I was very happy to read this one. Sebastian't bus driver appears to be OK. Here's his update: RIO UPDATE: All injuries appear to be minor. There were originally radio reports of a fatality which has fortunately turned out to be false. Initial reports are that our staging is for the most part ok but a more accurate assessment is being made. No word yet on if the show will be moved to tomorrow the 15th or another night. Reportedly Baz's truck driver is ok as well. Thank you again for your understanding. Axl-

I don't know if there is an indoor venue that supports 30,000 people here in Rio... i think that info is fake! The best scenario is that they re-schedule the show for the end of the tour... i think the last date is April 1st, Equador. If they re-schedule for tomorrow, the band will have to play 3 concerts in 4 days!!!! (15 - Rio, 16 - Porto Alegre, 18 - Uruguay). I don't see that happening! Pinball, if they re-schedule the concert, we can meet there! The organizer of the excursion I was on had to take our tickets back (in case they send our money back instead of a new date)....she said she would try to glue It altogueter or maybe swap for another one....i'm crossing my fingers here!

Just found this message posted by the GNR pyro guy on mygnrforum ......... Gear is trashed due to the heavy rain. We are all safe but no gig.

At first, the band was informed that the damages to the gear were minor...so Axl posted on his Twitter that there was a possibility for them to play today (Mar 15). But the damage to the gear was actually massive, no show today, and most likely no show in Rio anytime soon...people here are saying that our money will be returned. Two other local bands were going to open up for GNR along with Baz...and they posted on their Twitters that they were dismissed this morning...so the likelyhood of a show in Rio decreased even more!
GNR is scheduled to play until early April in South America.... there`s a slight chance they reschedule to April. Man, i don`t care about the f*cking money, all I wanted was to see Baz and GnR playing!!! What a bummer!!!

Another photo. The big screen is included in this mangled mess apparently. Yup...thats about where Sebastian and the band would be hanging out and also where the main guitar techs and mucho guitar equipment would be stored. alot of damage - i am glad nobody was hurt. guitars can be repaired no problem.. bodies can't be.

Wow, that really brings home how bad it was, doesn't it. Did you see this one too? It's a short vid of the actual tornado that caused the damage.
