I wasn't ever going to admit this, but since there is a thread for it I thought I'd humor you guys (as well as myself) and share with you my recent Skid Row experience.
My friend and I are Sebastian fans all the way, and have never even given any thought to seeing Skid Row without him until recently. They were playing the Starland in NJ and the two of us had nothing to do and thought "what the heck, it's only $15 bucks, let's go. Needless to say we were both glad it was only $15. It was like watching a Bret Michaels look alike trying to impersonate Sebastian! And forget it, when it came to the "classics" I Remember You, 18 and Life, we both looked at each other like, "You've got to be kidding!" Nothing can replace the best, the original and the only Sebastian Bach!!!

Scab-astian is no Baz.
I don't hate the New Group But calling it Skid Row is is Like The Gary More Skid Row Project
It's just Not the Same.
There is alot of Talent in that Group.
Baz,Rachel,Snake,Rob,Scotti
Anything else is a New Generation.
Baz is Better Solo He is alway's on the TV.
He is alway's Recording a Tribute Song.
He can Pop up on Broadway any time he wants.
The New Group is doing there thing & doing it well. But it's just not the Same.

I saw them a couple years back and I totally agree Scab-astian is no Bach at all.
I was dissapointed in the classic SKidz songs they didn't have any feeling or soul to them that Baz brings to the table.

I have to disagree with you about Sollinger and the "new" Skid Row. I really think Skid Row is aware that they have to start from scratch with this line-up. And of course; they have to play all the old Skid-songs for the fans. Should they still be called Skid Row? Who knows?
I saw Skid Row a year ago, playing for 200 people in Oslo, Norway, and I think they really kicked ass! No doubt about it. Sollinger's no Baz, but no one will ever be. I think we should let Skid Row do their own thing, and let Sebastian be Sebastian. He's better off! That's my opinion...

Its gotta be hard for the guy but he should have thought about that himself - Why would anyone want to go out on stage and sing "quicksand Jesus" if they cant hit the notes?? All Sabo can say is "everyone really respects each other" - who gives a fuck - "Oh say can you - scream? "

*shrug*
I havent even been tempted to go and see the new line up .... bought the CD when it came out ... sold it a week later I was THAT disappointed with it - some bands ARE the frontman ... SKid Row will always be Seb for me ..... and I am sooo not interested in hearing someone butcher the classics

But isn't it a lot like Audioslave? I can't imagine Chris Cornell do Rage-songs!? But that's what they promised to do on this tour! What I am is excited to see it, though...
I've said it before; Scab-astian is no Bach, but I can't help but enjoy the "new" Skid Row. That is probably because of Bolan & Snake. They wrote most of the songs when Sebastian were in the band and they write the songs now. Sure it's a new singer, but it still is the Skid Row-sound.
And as I also said before; Sebastian is better off. Songs like "Rock'n'Roll" and the Frameshift-album proves that he's better off on his own! But then again, maybe it's just me...? Or maybe it's not the political correct thing to say nice things about Bolan in this board? I don't care! I like music, not musicians!

In my opinion it really does depend on the band/frontman blah blah blah . there are VERY few bands that I feel that way about ..... I also suppose that personal preference has a big influence .... BUT some singers are just so *larger than life* that they come for some fans to BE the band .... like someone else on this board said its a bit like Perry and Journey ........ noooooooooo cant do THAT!! LoL Lol ... just had another one .......... Rush with someone other than GEDDY or NEIL or LIFESON for that matter *chuckles* (hubby is the BIGGEST Rush fan alive....... Id never heard of em till I met him)

I happened to see skid row over the weekend and have to say that I fall into the same category as most everyone else. It was great to hear the songs, but he cannot hit the notes. Musically they sounded great, but the vocals were lacking and that is because Sebastian wasn't singing them. Anyhow there is my two cents.

personally i feel like Scab-astian is a wanna be.....he wanna be as kewl as Baz, but never will. Baz was an irreplaceable frontman and vocalist and they should have thought real hard about throwing him out. Hhhhmmm, lets see, we got this really hot, talented frontman that everybody loves...but fuck it man, lets throw him out b/c we don't like his attitude??? whatever, man. i would have kept him, he was their cash cow. LoL I agree with about everyone of you I guess. I mean, we go to the concert and we all expect to hear the voice of Baz when the "classics" are being performed. But then this not-so-familiar voice just cracks the wall lol. Not that I've seen'em live though. Just my thoughts.

That's my opinion... i believe skid row was called skid row, before sebastian joined up with them, so i don't see anything wrong with them keeping the name going...that said, even though an audience may want them to play certian skidz classics, they've got to be realistic...if he can't hit the notes, he can't hit the notes...go on to other songs that are more suitable for him, plus new ones...that way, fans are more likely to become your fans, than people going to their shows saying "lets's see if he's near as good as bach" and then walk out disappointed...again, all that being said...i still liek baz better with all the lineups he's brought thru over the years...he just takes so freakin long releasing stuff it's maddening...lol

Mark, I think that is possibly the most elequently stated, and well thought through post that anyone has made concerning this issue. I have not seen the reformatted skids play, and I don't know if I ever will, but you are right, he is not Baz and we cannot expect him to be! (that is why we go to see Sebastian).
