This is a virtual SHRINE dedicated to one of the greatest cover bands of all time... KID WIKKID. This site is also dedicated to the great fans of Kid Wikkid. Now, after all of these years, the fans have something to listen to. Feel free to download these songs to your PCs and make CD's from them.
KID WIKKID (1991-1992)
1991-1992 was the best time to witness a great cover band. Rock music was changing... from the decline of glam rock to the rise of grunge. During this time period, cover bands had the luxury of performing image-rich, technical glam rock songs along with raw, gloomy grunge songs. Both styles of rock music would achieve equal enthusiasm from the audience. In other words, a cover band could play "Slave to the Grind" by Skid Row and then "Man in the Box" by Alice in Chains and the crowd would go completely "apeshit" on BOTH songs. It was a time when guitar solos were cool and rock music was fun, unlike the mundane, lifeless modern rock of today. Kid Wikkid stood above the rest with a diverse set-list and entertaining stage shows that rivaled major label acts during their time. From Knoxville, Tennessee to Charlottesville, Virginia... Kid Wikkid rocked the world for one beautiful year.
The featured songs on this site were recorded straight from the PA mixer to a cassette... so don't expect "superb" sound quality. This was LONG before the internet, MP3's, inexpensive digital recording, amp simulators and CDR's... so keep that in mind while listening to these tracks. These LIVE recordings took place at Good Time Charlies in Claypool Hill, VA on September 12, 1992. In January of 2003, the songs were recorded in MONO from a cassette deck to Sound Forge XP Studio (wave editor) and then mastered in STEREO for a thicker overall sound. Pictures will be added later.
