I was really amazed when he said he was playing China. I'd be hugely interested to see how the shows go down - whether they are popular and so on. Hopefully someone who goes will be able to make it round the censorship and tell us what it's like!!

Wooot! I'm getting one tomorrow, but will I be safe? I use a wheelchair. I'd be grateful if all Melbourne people kept an eye out for a chick in wheelchair in tight black PVC.

I'd be grateful if all Melbourne people kept an eye out for a chick in wheelchair in tight black PVC. they put you in a safe area if your in a wheelchair. they'll definitely keep an eye out for you. just have someone with you. my friend was in the front row lots of times for baz shows and she's in a wheelchair also. she had lots of people protecting her from the crazies. security was always close by. she's had crowd surfers thrown over her, moshers pushed into her.. to the other freaks who know.. i'm talking about christina. doesn't visit the board but i'm sure she would offer her encourgement to you. don't take no for answer if they can't accomodate you ...because they can they'll find a way michele

I'm in on the welcoming party idea definately... Here's what I wrote to Baz on Myspace: Hi dearest Sebastian.. I've been a fan of yours for YEARS, I'm only 28 but you were an inspiration to me since I was a little girl. I'll see you at The Palace in Melbourne. I'm freaking out a little though, because i'm in a wheelchair and I don't wanna get pummeled by sweaty rock men. Can you please organise something? I'm tough as nails, but I'd rather not cop a concussion just to see you. It would also be kind of you if we could have a short chat, I want to put something in my university magazine (Catalyst@RMIT) about you and this trip Down Under. No trouble if you can't but I'd rock if you could spare a few moments! Much love, Maihem x (Miss Felice Vaiani)

www.sebastianbach.comBACH IN CHINA FOR FIRST TIME; BACH IN AUSTRALIA 2006!! I am totally excited to play Beijing China for the first time in my career. The international rock community is stronger than ever & for us to play China is a total honour. It's always cool to play somewhere you never have before & we look forward to rocking out in China this September! Check out the website for the gig right here: www.beijingpopfestival.com I also cannot wait to return to Australia. The last time I played there was in 1993 supporting Guns'n Roses & they were some of the biggest shows I have ever played. It's gonna be killer to bring the new band down under!

But It can be put in the profile or in a 'signature' link. Otherwise I believe there's a 'no advertising' rule.

Saw Sebastian play Beijing tonight... a bit of a dissapointment really. The sound quality was shite, and then crowd being mainly Chinese weren't that familiar with him and were pretty unresponsive. Saying that SB did his best to liven them up and succeeded in parts. I can't help but think that it would have been a much better gig in the west where people know his stuff and will go a little wilder.
Played songs mostly off the first Skid Row album, Piece of Me, 18 & Life, Big Guns, I Remember You, Here I Am, Youth Gone Wild, Monkey Business, Slave to the Grind, The Threat. A couple of new songs, not sure what they are called, but no songs off of Subhuman Race and unfortulately no Frameshift songs.
Seb did his best, and man he can still scream!!
Oh, Seb said that the new album will be out in January.

Sorry but I can't agree with you on that. I'm among the crowd too in that show, and I'm chinese. I do think people around me love Sebastian and they got really WILD. I kept jumping up and down all the time, screaming and singing along with him. Lotsa people cried when Sebastian was singing 18 and life, I remember you. Maybe you and I were just watching and standing on two different points(btw, the real rock fans were set too far away from the stage, fuck the VIP seats a lot), But I don't think Bach was disappointed by the audience as you were. It was wise of him to sing more old songs this time IMO, I admit that people in China know more about his old stuff, and things has been improving;-) Anyway this's just a pop festival, a great part of people came to see supergrass who was considered to be the bigger headliner since they were the last band performing, after Sebastian. As a matter of fact I was so exhausted that I could hardly move my arms when supergrass was performing, and obviously the crowd grown calmer too. BTW, Sebastian dressed like a chinese emperor after some drum solo, and he climbed the iron ledder beside the stage. What a lovely man! I'm so sure he went really high and wild too. There are some information(including an interview after the show and some video clips) and pics of Bach in the festival, hope the links work for you: the interview: ent.qq.com/a/20060911/000036.htmSB and XTX(a chinese rock singer) performing together: ent.qq.com/a/20060911/000068.htman emperor of metal: ent.qq.com/a/20060911/000068.htm"Youth gone wild": ent.qq.com/a/20060911/000003.htmClimbing: ent.qq.com/a/20060911/000058.htmclick the numbers to check out more photos. unfortunately it's in chinese, I can translate it if necessary and, if you can stand my poor english ;D

Alright Blackpainter,
Cheers for the reply... I guess I am just comparing it to times before when I saw Skid Row and the crowd were going mental.
From what I saw last night, at times Sebastian got the crowd going more that any other band that played the festival (on both days).... maybe it was just the audience set-up that made it look like things were too quiet. Like you said, the real rock fans were miles away from the stage. I do not know what the organisers were thinking by putting a seating area right in front of the stage... just doesn't make sense at all!
I also thought that the sound quality was pretty bad too, which was my major dissapointment. Some of time you couldn't hear Sebastians voice over the sound of the guitar...
I am glad you enjoyed it though, I enjoyed it of course but compared to times I have seen him before it wasn't quite as good.... maybe thats because I am getting older and more boring.
Its good to see more western bands coming to Beijing though, as its not that often a big band comes over here to play. I think that the Chaoyang Festival is still very young but in the coming years it will grow into something much bigger and more important, which is good for all people here in Beijing. Last year it was one day with one decent band, this year it was 2 days with more variety... next year I hope it further improves.
Cheers
Stu
