Hello Mr Sebastion Bach. I hope you take the time out of your day to quickly read what I have to say.
I have been a life long fan of your's, even though im only 16 years of age. I have grown up listening to SkidRow, and even enjoyed the latest Angel Down CD. I also had the pleasure of seeing you open up for Axl Rose in Winnipeg Manitoba of 06.
You have been my favourite singer for years, and to find out that you have turned to country just disturbes me. An idol of mine for so many years, you have now turned to country just to make some extra doh. I cant help but be extremely dissapointed that you have done this.
Go ahead and say whatever you like, say that you have always enjoyed country music, but deep down you and I no its just not true.
Thankyou for reading, a former fan.
--Cody Thompson.

Cody I think you should try to understand that an artist can have many sides to them. Sebastian is an artist who can't be bound by one genre. He has enough talent to encompass them all, metal, rock, broadway and yea even country. He isn't saying goodbye to metal he's jusy saying hello to other things as well. Stick with him. He won't disappoint!

Hey Cody Welcome to the Board mate. I read your post and can understand what your saying and how you are feeling, however what wildhorse said is true. When I was 16 I would have thought probably similar to yourself...when your 16 you have this wild energy and enthusiasm and PASSION for what you are right into, and thats cool...when I was 16 I was heavily into Thrash Metal and if anyone played me any Country or Rap or any glam stuff I would want to punch them out...it was Thrash or NOTHING for me.... Fast forward 19 years and here I am, still into Thrash, but over the past 19 years I have discovered that there is soooooooo much more out there...I became a musician and discovered all different types of music that excited me...everything from Pop and even Middle Eastern music, through to Black Metal, AND I rediscovered just how much FUN bands like Poison and GnR many other "hair" bands were, and now I LOVE that style...Music is ART man, and the thing about Baz is that he is a TRUE ARTIST, and thats what Artists do, they CHALLENGE themselves to be better, to try different things, just to see if they can! Im sure you know that Baz has done Stage Musicals - Rocky Horror, Jesus Christ Superstar etc etc...Gilmour Girls on TV, RAP, and now Country....to go along with what he does best (in my opinion) - METAL....he is just proving to himself, and all of us, how talented he really is. Dont diss him for trying different stuff man, we all know that hes not going to ever walk away from Metal and heavy Music....the dude has "Youth Gone Wild" tattooed on his arm for god sakes...I know it can be hard, but try to appreciate what he's doing....im certainly not the biggest Country fan in the world either but im really looking forward to hearing Baz's interpretation of Country....I will be the first to stand up on this Board and admit that I may not personally like what he comes up with on this Country adventure that hes currently on, but I do respect the guy enough to definately give it a decent listen and if it pleases my ears, great....and if it dosent...ahh well, thats life....its no big deal, cause I know there will be a "heavy" album right around the corner.... Stick by him man, I think all of Sebastians fans are on a ride at the moment and thats whats so great about the guy, he will always keep you guessing as to what hes up to and I reckon thats one of the things that keeps most of us coming back here to the Board...its FUN knowing that you never know whats around the next turn... Open your ears and allow yourself to be immersed in all different types of Music....no one has to know cause they are YOUR ears dude, thats one of the beauties of Music!

Oooh and just one other thing while im rambling....
The comment "you have now turned to country just to make some extra doh".....duuuuude...the thing is that there is virtually NO MONEY in the Music Industry these days. Baz has openly admitted in the past that he uses the money that he makes from the reality shows to pump into his new Recordings. I believe that Angel Down may not have ever happened had he not had money from the Gilmour Girls, Celebrity Rap, the many TV shows he hosted on VH1 etc....see, he didnt have a Record Label untill after the CD was pretty much completed....Angel Down was paid for out of his OWN pockets, not from a Record Company giving him an advance.....thats Business man, thats the way it works these days.....so....if the guy dosent do these different types of shows etc etc, he's going to A) struggle to pay the bills and B) struggle to record and release new music....and that would be a DISASTER.... so....see...thats why he does what he does, apart from the fact that he seems to really enjoy it.
Gotta support him man, hes workin his ass off!!!
Ok I shut up now..

Well stated Wildhorse and Dogface.
Codyt, have you heard either Battle With the Bottle or Jumping Off the Wagon? I think you need to give these songs a listen befor you say you won't be a fan anymore if he does country music. The current state of country music is that it is very similar to early rocknroll. Elvis started as a country artist, the Beatles and the Stones were influenced by the early american rock artists, and if you speak to any of the hard rock and early metal bands like Priest, Sabbath and Led Zep, they all admit to having been influenced by the Beatles and Stones. Some of them like Motley Crue have even recorded covers of Beatles songs. Helter Skelter for an example by the Crue and Live and Let Die by GNR. What goes around usually comes back around.

It's one of my desert island discs. I love the soulfulness of the music. I wish I could find someone who speaks Arabic to translate the lyrics for me.

Open your ears and allow yourself to be immersed in all different types of Music....no one has to know cause they are YOUR ears dude, thats one of the beauties of Music! Thanks, that was a great read. I no that Angel Down was done mostly out of his pocket because the label he was on collapsed and went bankrupt. I also knew that he has done some broadway, and I thought that was cool. It show's that his voice is very versityle, (sp?) and that he can pull off a lot of things. Im not sure that you understand where my frusteration is coming from. I have heard his country single, and whenever I listen to it I find myself going "WTF?." I understand that he needs to make money for his family,( nice home by the way Sebastion, saw ya on cribs ) and that he has bills to pay. However, he is a talented artist who can do it otherways than putting together a poor country song. Being a muscian myself, (drummer) I understand that all music should be appreciated. I have seen everyone from BuckCherry to IronMaiden. Unfortunatly, all muscians have bounderies and I dont think Sebastion has the "honkey tonk" attitude to pull it off. I have listened to his single battle with the bottle and thats about it. I am open enough to admit if I like a song, and quite honestly I just dont think it's very good. I can honestly say that reading some other opinions help's me respect Sebastion a little more though. I just didn't see the one and only Sebastion Bach turning country...

Sebastian isn't just a musician, he's an artist. Artists have no boundaries. Let me tell you about Andrew. He's as metal as they come. Tattoos, GnR t-shirts(Axl is his idol),Skid Row.....and on and on. But he also knows just about every country song ever written and who sings it. Andrew is 19. When the Stones played Omaha a few years ago who opened for them......Brooks and Dunn. Try a little Keith Urban (his guitar playing alone is incredible) and also listen to Miranda Lamberts "Gunpowder and Lead". I'm not a metal lover myself but I do like some GnR. What we say now probably doesn't mean much but it will someday. Just believe that some people have more than one side to them. It makes them much more interesting.

hey codyt welcome to the board.. I was going to stay out of this discussion (I love most all music and everyone has an opinion), but you got to me with the 'honkey tonk' and the 'poor country song'... ~just sayin... after living in the south for a while you learn to deeply appreciate that 'honkey tonk' attitude cause it can be soooo laid back, cool, and a ton of fun when it gets wild!! I mean it can get WILDLY fun! and it can just be dang WILD in the first place. LOL I mean seriously good times honkey tonkin'. ;D Personally I even came to love 'blue grass' music because hearing it performed live get's you more relaxed and chilled out, and yet it maintains that distinct entertainment value that really turns on the 'cool' factor, than most any other laid back music this Yankee girl has listened to live. Hey! I'm a Yankee who grew up with ROCK! Country music isn't all that bad. Gotta check it out live ;D it Rocks!! Sebastian's song is right up there with the great songs. The movement in the song and the music is terrific! 'Poor' just aint the word for his song. ~just sayin' IMO and Hey! who knows?!! Baz may have just done it because it was a FUN! thing to do.. nothing more nothing less. Sometimes you just wake up in the morning and say "Let's go have some FUN!".. ya know? *

Hi Cody, Firstly, just to let you know I've been a fan of Baz's since I was about 13 or 14, and I can totally appreciate how important he is to you as an idol, because I idolised him too. Now I'm a little more than twice that age, and I still think Sebastian is amazing (although I am an old married woman now, so not really allowed to have posters all over my bedroom walls anymore lol ). Baz is such a far cry from the many manufactured and/or gimmicky bands that have sprung up in recent years. By making forays into various genres where you would not usually find rock stars, he is gaining exposure to a whole host of potential new fans, which means that he can go on making the music he loves the most, and for which we know him best. I have a huge amount of respect for his business acumen - he knows how to get media exposure, and uses it to get where he needs to be. You've got to remember the music business is just that, and hats off to Baz for using the media merry-go-round to his advantage, and for being so open and candid about it all. I do happen to think the country songs I've heard him sing so far have been really good, but if you really don't like that style of music then I can see how you might not like them. You don't have to like it just cos it's Sebastian Bach! What I guess I'm trying to say is that you should stick around for the ride, and don't be disheartened if you don't like the country stuff - oh, and apart from anything else, it's Baz's life, so he can go and do a skiffle album if he really wants to: he doesn't always have to do what he thinks the fans are expecting! We're just lucky to have him and his amazing voice on this planet! ;D

I guess what boggles my mind is why isn't there room for Sebastian to do both? If you don't like country music okay then just wait because Sebastian will I'm positive do another rock album. That's what he loves to do so sure he will always go back to that. Their are some fans like me who are thrilled to death to see our favorite rock star on the planet sing a country song. A whole album an amazing pleasure that I never saw coming. I love the whole whats he going to do next feeling. Sebastian is amazing, I would be disappointed if he didn't spread his wings and explore different sounds. It has been the ride of a lifetime, I've been a fan since I was a kid. Country music isn't necessarily as its perceived. Hmmmm trying to figure out the right way to say this is hard. I understand what your saying about having a Honky Tonk attitude. Thats just it no one is asking Sebastian to be anything other than what he is. If he wears a cowboy hat that's his choice. I think it looks good one him. Sebastian's music will always reflect him in many important ways. If country music is his next adventure then I say bring it on. That's just part of the fun of being a fan, your not always going to like every song. Your at times going to be puzzled thinking what are they thinking? In the end the fans get rewarded by the next surprising thing Sebastian does. You never know how many facets of his amazing personality and talent will be revealed next. Hang in there with him you won't be sorry, its gonna be a fun ride. At 16 it can be hard to explain why you feel the way you do. So my advice to you would be this if you given it a chance and don't like it then that's cool. But I wouldn't stop being a fan just because you didn't like the path that he is on now. In a year it might be something totally different all together that he's doing and that you may love. Sorry for rambling so long.

Nice to read the positive comments, the negative close minded feed back is getting dragged on a bit. So far all the songs have been great,Battle with the bottle,Jumping off the wagon,Long way to go. I have no doubt this CD will still have a dash of "ROCK" to it. I have been watching Jeff's song's on youtube & songs like Gone & Something in the water certainly have a "ROCK" feel to them. Very Bob Seger/Lynyrd Skynyrd. The best advice is wait till the project comes out buy it & judge for self. Keep in mind this is coming from "SEBASTIAN BACH".
And Baz always KICKS ASS!

I have no problem with Cody voicing his opinion at all, because it gives others a chance to state theirs.....hopefully without the thread turning into an argument.... Cody is obviously a fan because hes taken the time to join up and post, and hes reading others opinions and taking them in....thats a GOOD THING....im not here to try to change your mind Cody or to say "dont be having a go at Baz" im just giving an opinion. And im sure that if Sebastian was to read this thread he would be interested in it as well....the positive feedback and the negative feedback.....whats that old saying again? "You cant please ALL of the people ALL of the time"? Good on you for reading the posts Cody and sticking on the Board....hopefully some others might chime in here and have a say....but lets not turn it into a shitfight hey....

We all know & love his music. Something to keep in mind. Sebastian is a true multidimensional entertainer. He has the freedom to explore music with out limitations. This project is going to open many doors for Sebastian,it's going to show that he is capable of going out side the box & creating something unorthodox to what people expect. He is being helped by some of the best in the country music business,John Rich, Jeffrey Steele and Vicky McGehee. This project will allow Sebastian to use his voice in ways he would not have before. As fans this will keep us guessing what kind of music will he work on in the future? I still want to hear him record song from his time on Broadway. Songs like The transformation,Alive & The Confrontation as well as his "ROCKED OUT" version This is the moment,Time Warp & Gethsemane . Per haps after this project Sebastian will record some or who knows maybe he will create his own Rock Opera? But first the Country/Southern influenced rock music please & THANK YOU>

Hes got the "heavy" one happening for ya, writing with Jamie (is that his name?) from Hatebreed, so that one will be FULL ON, so its all happening in 2009...hes doing the demos for both at the moment so fingers crossed he gets both done and released this year...the signs are great so far.

He's not a real sell out like some people/bands.Bon Jovi comes to mind. The term sellout get's old quick. Sebastian once said on Hard & Heavy if all you make is this type of music those kind of songs what's the point. Musicians are people, people change & go in different directions. Truth is if your searching for fame are you just suppose to stop once you have been there? Maybe if your Johnny Rotten but long term you have to keep exploring & Sebastian is taking it one step further. I still say it would not be all to difficult to put a country twist on songs like I remember you,The most powerfull man in the world & Who made you do it. I can't wait to buy this CD. Yeah Codyt glad to see your back! We've had a few updates from Baz on Twitter over the past couple of weeks and as R&Rmom says, hes blasting out 2 ALBUMS!!! Jamey Jasta & while Baz say's it's not going to sound like Hatebreed IM hoping some parts even a whole song shape out that way. Defeatist & Destroy everything are sweet tunes. I hope Jamey is a guset on the CD

Have to say one of the many thing I love about Sebastian is the fact he will try any kinda music and does it so well... I am looking forward to both country (love battle with the bottle) and Metal albums
I still wished he done more with the rap stuff... not a huge fan of rap but still loved the songs he did... that man has a killer voice he could sing anything and sound good...

Great point - He's human, humans change their minds.
There is no denying that Sebastian had changed his mind A LOT during his career: - (many many years ago) He scorned the idea of recording a country album - He swore that if there was one genre he's never sing, it would be rap - He poo-pooed touring with Poison.
But he did each and every one of these things. Now you could either call this hypocritical, or you could call it adventurous. I'd opt for adventurous. How many artists would have the balls to turn around and say, "Hang on, maybe I should take a closer look." then admit that they were mistaken then actually get involved? Furthermore, how many would do it with such utter enthusiasm? Not many. And for this, I think Sebastian should be congratulated.
I'm not a huge fan of country, but I definitely think this is worth checking out.
