I was just reading an interview Sebastian did from July 2008 and in it he says:- "I have a great solo CD out called ‘Angel Down.’” Bach said. “ We've sold about 100,000 copies worldwide, which in 2008 is a great number but compared to my sales of Skid Row, I got a lot of promotion to do, because you know, we sold over 22 million copies." I was just wondering if anyone has more recent figures of 'Angel Down' sales. 100,000 is really cool, but there must be a whole lot more by now. Here's a link to the interview if anyone else wants to read it. I don't remember reading it before but maybe I've just forgotten, having read SO many over the years, lol. www.2theadvocate.com/entertainment/25836479.html

Oh, OK, I get it. You're another one of those strange people that thinks being nasty is funny. Don't get it myself. Edit: Just another thought. Maybe your insensitivity is why you don't 'get' the lyrics of 'Angel Down' as well. Hmmm.

I tried looking it up but couldn't find a current total but I can guarantee he has sold a ton more. Its a fabulous record!!! Angel Down is my favourite album! That album grows and grows when you listen to it. It's not an easy album, you really need to listen to it. Sebastian's voice is awesome on Angel Down. Hearing this album live Sebastian singing it is mind blowing. Like I've told about 20 years "fight" with my friends brother (who's better singer Sebastian - Bruce Dickinson or SR - IM) and he had to admit me last summer that Sebastian's show was the best he's ever seen. He's seen many bands and Maiden at least zillion times. Me too, I'd like to know how much it has been sold by now. Well, who doesn't like it... everybody doesn't know what good music is, don't even notice it when they hear it and that's their loss.

well, i made some research and i couldnt find any new numbers. here are what i found about the sales:
Billboard Top 200 191 Billboard Hard Rock Chart 1 Billboard Heatseekers Chart 1
The album seemed to have suffered from distribution problems in the first few weeks which explains the low sales, but has since gone on to sell over 100,000 world wide.
thats what wikipedia says.
i dont know what is the final number but i guess it is around 200-300k. in these days it is not a bad number. lets see how other bands are doing:
GN'R - Chinese Democracy, 2.6 million copies worldwide Metallica - Death Magnetic, 3.1 million copies worldwide AC/DC - Black Ice, 1.39 million copies in the US (couldnt find worldwide) Iron Maiden - A Matter of Life and Death, 1.6 million copies world wide Megadeth - United Abominations, less than 1 million copies world wide (couldnt find exact numbers)
as you all can see, albums are not selling. you know the reason..

I remember when I got into an illegal download site a few weeks after the CD came out and there had been OVER 20,000 downloads of the cd.

Thanks for trying to find out everyone but it seems no luck overall. Guess we'll just have to hope Sebastian slips another figure into an interview for us one day.

That's true only Distribution was even worse than that in some parts of the U.S. like where I live, North Carolina, you couldn't find the CD in any store at all until 4 months after it was first released. I ended up having to buy my copies of Angel Down off Amazon.com....

Distribution is a problem all over. The day after it was released, I got the first, last and only copy that Best Buy had. There was NO addvertising at all for it. When I bought the limited edition in CT it was at the show. But there had been a signing outside the show, and they didn't have the DVD edition. WTF? It seems it's not just Baz's music having this problem. I went to 5 different stores to try to find Motley's Cruefest DVD the day it was released. 2 Barnes and Nobles hadn't heard of it, Borders said it didn't come in, One Best Buy was sold out, they had gotten 4 copies, and the second one had ONE left. that I put on hold and drove 45 minutes out of my way to get. Not every fan is going to be THAT persistant.

Yes, I've read complaints all over the Net from those who wanted to buy 'Angel Down' and just couldn't get a copy, some even admitting they downloaded it illegally as a result. Which obviously sucks. I therefore found it interesting to read the following in Jack Ponti's blog re India.Arie's career (another link to it for those who may have missed it on another thread -- www.bellyofbeast.com/). "--- we were working around the clock knowing a bad showing on first week sales would kill our inertia immediately.
That’s a real fucked up thing about this business that has changed since the advent of Soundscan, first week sales. Before that, a record was allowed to grow, find its market and progress. Now it’s like Hollywood, bad opening weekend and you are dead in the water. A real cause for problems yet no one really gets it.
We were sweating out week one even though we saw great orders coming in. Of course we knew those orders could easily convert into the dreaded “returns”, records shipped back when they gather dust on retail shelves." This suggests to me that the distributors can only supply what the record shops order or pre-order from them. So is it in fact the record shops that are way behind the game here?? Maybe they are the ones we should be 'harrassing' more next time around? I thought this little tidbit was interesting as well " --- you’d be surprised on how very little units will move when you are an opening act. It indeed adds to the picture and allows you to maximize being in that town by hitting all media outlets, but it really doesn’t move the needle."

Sebastian has been very talkative lately! I've found that he's even answering messages left on his My Space site as well and, for those that didn't see it, I though I'd post it here as it answers this question I asked a while ago.
The first bit is the comment made by a fan called Andrew that was posted on the 12th of April. And the second bit is the reply Sebastian made to him. And that contains the bit of information that I want to share here.
From Andrew:
baz... is there any chance that those of us who bought the cd BEFORE the limited edition version became available months later will get a crack at "road rage" without having to buy the whole cd over? (i actually had gone a step further and bought the japanese version for the bonus track, thinking that would be the "definitive" version of it!) please write me bach! Posted by Andrew on Sunday, April 12, 2009 - 2:09 PM From Sebastian Bach:
well dude , i am just going by the way the music biz is these days. 2 of my fave artists are Rush & Neil Young Every time they put out a cd, there is the option for the fans to get the cd alone, or a limited edition with a dvd a couple of months later. At the time we put out angel down, roadrage did not exist. Fye.com is selling the Limited Edition for $12.. if you think me or anyone else is making a fortune off this, you would be wrong dude !(unfortunately) . the 1st record i ever put out is approaching 13 million in worldwide sales. the last one i put out is approaching 200,000. Ummm if some more people would cough up just $12 for the cd & dvd together, maybe i could make some more music someday! i'm just sayin'! Posted by Sebastian Bach on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 - 6:54 AM
Sometimes it pays to be a bit of a stalker, lol. ;D

Does anyone actually know what an artist would make per cd? and I do not get the people complaining about road rage coming with the CD... I just looked at it as paying for the DVD and getting a bonus copy of Angel Down...
