Wow... hearing baz covering "we are the champions" was awesome... Ive always imagined Baz being a potentially good frontman for Queen.. Now i wonder how he would sound on "somebody to love" ( one of my favorite queen songs)

Just thought I'd post this blog I just found about the day at Citi Field. He mentions the songs Sebastian sang, although I'm not entirely sure he got it right, lol. But maybe.
I'm posting it because I think the guy fell in love with Sebastian that day, which I think is great obviously, but Ace (or someone else) you might like to delete it if you don't think it's 'appropriate' here. Up to you guys. But I enjoyed reading it so I thought others would too. Here it is.
Monday, May 11, 2009 They Haven't Classed Up the Joint Too Much
"I took a solo trip to Bailout Ballpark on Saturday and had another lovely visit. There were some autism awareness activities going on, which were pretty sweet.
About a half hour before game time, Sebastian Bach of Skid Row fame (not sure if you can really say he's of Jekyll & Hyde fame) took the field and sang a couple of Queens covers (We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions, of course), 18 & Life (the Skid Row hit), and another song I didn't recognize. It's probably from a new album.
But let me just say for the record: Sebastian Bach fucking rules. He had the toughest job in the house there for a solid ten or fifteen minutes. The stadium was still mostly empty, and there were exactly zero people sitting in the seats he played to directly.
From my seat I had a pretty good view of the Taste of New York food court at the stadium, and that's where the throngs were. Shake Shack trumps Sebastian Bach, apparently.
God bless him, though. Sebastian was doing everything he could to get the tiny crowd excited. In that high-pitched hair-band voice of his, he screamed, "YOU READY TO ROCK THIS GAME, NEW YORK??" to which the crowd offered back a very tame, "Yay..." No matter how quiet the response, that Sebastian Bach kept on calling out for that response, bless his heart.
A couple of guys from the Howard Stern Show were involved in the awareness day, too, so naturally Sebastian Bach changed the words to include a little "Bababooey" also. Bababooey drank it up.
When it was finally time for the ceremonial first pitch, Bababooey (that's Howard Stern producer Gary Dell'abate, if you're not familiar with the show) took the ball. The stadium had filled up by this point, so Bababooey was pitching to a full house.
Now, it's pretty common for the ceremonial first pitch to fail to make it to the catcher on the fly. People who haven't ever thrown off a mound (or haven't since Little League) usually fail to compensate for the angle. So there tend to be a lot of bounced ceremonial first pitches. Most fans accept this and cheer anyway, even Mets fans.
Bababooey threw what had to be the single worst ceremonial first pitch I've ever seen in my life. Not only was his form horribly awkward, but the ball went off in a direction I didn't even think possible. It ended up so far from the catcher that it was an umpire who caught it.
And boy, did the boo birds rain down on Bababooey's head.
I actually felt a little bad for the guy. Back when it was on terrestrial radio, I would occasionally listen to the Howard Stern Show, and Bababooey is a massive Mets fan. I don't know if he's ever thrown out the first pitch before, but I'm sure it's been a dream for a long time. And he blew it. Man, he blew it bad.
After Mets ceremonial first pitches, the pitcher takes a photo with the catcher and ball as a souvenir. Bababooey's face was on the jumbotron at that moment, and he was bright red and looked absolutely miserable, forced smile notwithstanding. Poor bastard.
This is one morning I wish I had Howard to listen to. They are almost certainly busting his balls. After all, Artie Lange was there to witness the thing up close, and that guy was apparently an all-star third baseman in high school.
I'm just glad, though, that the pre-game included Sebastian Bach and Bababooey. With that fancy new stadium, it would be too easy to invite, say, Vampire Weekend and Ira Glass. For the Mets, it's really gotta be Sebastian Bach and Bababooey."

the interview above this pretty much summed the event up...the 4 songs were "we will rock you" "we are the champions" "18 and life" and "i remember you". me, deb, her daughter lauren, and my friend mike went, and we were standing in the 300's section behind home plate. the place was still pretty empty when bas came out, so of course i took that opportunity to bellow out at the top of my lungs SEBASTIAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNN!!!!!!! people 2 counties over had to hear me, but with bas being on the field, with all the field noise and all, he probably didn't...lol. being an open air stadium, i wasn't sure how everything would sound...considering the system at the ballpark is probably set up mainly for the P.A. announcer, who announces the players...but bas sounded great, and charlie, playing an electric acoustic guitar, played great and sang bachground vocals. the forecast was for rain, but thankfully, not a drop came down all day. the gods must have known sebastian bach was performing outdoors, and they wouldn't dare mess with him...lol!!! anyway, that's my review...i took 3 pics, but they aren't that close up.i will post them later...i have to leave for work now...later!

Thanks for the review Mark. Sorry if I 'stole your thunder' posting the one by that guy above your's. That was supposed to just be like 'background noise' to keep us amused until you posted your's -- the main event, lol!! Hopefully it served to save you a bit of keyboard time anyway. I was hoping you'd catch up with Sebastian before or after the show (as I'm sure you were ) and you'd be able to tell us (among other things) why he chose to sing two Queen songs, or do you know anyway? Request maybe? "18 & Life" and "I Remember You" -- goes without saying he couldn't get away without doing those. But I would have thought he'd do some of HIS new songs as well for his other two, especially when he always says he hates doing covers. Is Queen a Mets thing maybe?

Is Queen a Mets thing maybe? lol...you didn't steal my thunder at all...like you said, you saved me a bunch of time typing it all out. ;D thanks for that! to answer your question about the song choices...citi field is in flushing ny, but it's in the borough of QUEENS, NY...plus it being a vh1 ROCK the park thing, opening up with "we will ROCK you" in queens ny isn't that far fetched of an assumption. i can definitely see baz thinking..."hmmmm rock the park in queens...hmmmm I GOT IT!!!" lol...anyway, i forgot to post that baba booey from the howard stern show threw out the ceremonial first pitch from the pitcher's mound to start the game. well...i was thinking to myself "self...i hope he reaches the catcher at homeplate with the pitch". let me tell you...IT WAS HILARIOUS!!! the umpire, during these kind of things, usually stands about 25-30 feet to the side of homeplate, because right after the ceremonial first pitch, he yells play ball, and the game starts soon there after. the catcher catches the ball, and then would run out to bababooey, shake his hand, and hand him the ball. welllllll, bababoey, had the distance, but his angle was so fucked up, that he actually hit the umpire with the pitch!!!!it had to have been the most fucked up, and at the same time, funniest ceremonial first pitches i had ever seen in my life. they had his face on the big jumbo screen in center field, and he had this big ass grin on his face like, " oh god, what did i just do", and he was beet red...you kind of had to be there to appreciate how funny it was...but it was HILARIOUS!!! i gonna try and figure out how to post the pics now...give me a few...mark

Thanks for all of that Mark and for answering my question about Queen. It does make sense when you put it that way. Being a resident of Oz, I didn't know Citi Field was in Queens, lol. More education for me. I love this Board. Love the photos too. I've tried to get close-ups on the ones of Sebastian for you, although someone else can probably do better. But here they are for what it's worth.
