Bulletins Jul 21, 04:41 PMBach On The Lookout for New Guitar & Bass Player
THIS is an update I wish I never had to write. I am on the lookout for band members in the GUITAR & BASS positions in my band . I HATE CHANGING BAND MEMBERS. If it was up to me , I would never change band members. It takes a long time to develop chemistry between band members & I have never taken that simple fact lightly. The reason 'Angel Down' came out so good is that we captured a band that had been playing together live on the road for a couple of years at least, even being on tour mere days before we started recording that album. Same goes for 'Skid Row' & 'Slave To The Grind' .... those albums came out great because we were together all the time , playing, rehearsing, writing, all the time , every day.. not because we wanted to. Because we needed to. Not because we were getting paid, because we weren't. We played music for one simple reason: Playing music was (& is) our life. Ask any musician, & they'll tell ya: one of the hardest thing about this 'business' is finding the 'right' band members. I can remember being in 'Velvet Revolver' for about 15 minutes or so (about 3 weeks actually) & the thing I loved about that experience (working with Duff McKagan especially) is that those guys had at least 30-40 songs on the demo cd Duff gave me, & all of us had one goal in mind: creating some great music. Thats it. We rehearsed at Mates for 5 hours at a time. Noone asked "How much am i getting paid to rehearse"? "Who's paying my gas money to write this song"? etc. The subject of money never came up. We rehearsed, wrote songs & hung out together because we loved playing more than anything else, & are happier playing music than doing anything else. Since then, the guys I have had in my band have seemed to have gone on their own separate ways. I was forced to turn down 5 shows this summer: Gods Of Metal , Sweden Rock, MetalWay in Spain, & 2 shows in Quebec Canada with my heroes KISS. The unbeleivable reason I had to turn down these killer shows was simple: I could not get ahold of all my band members, or I could not afford financially to pay my band to rehearse & do the shows. This situation can never happen again. I love the band on 'Angel Down', but now that album is 3 years old. Despite my repeated emails, phone calls etc...we have not come up with a single new song in 3 years now. This situation can not go on. I am looking for musicians who love to play & create new music . Who need to play music. Who live to play music. I cannot make a good album when I have to pay all the band members to rehearse. I simply cannot afford to pay a musician to sit down & write a song with me. I myself have never once been paid to rehearse, or write a song. I do it because I love it. I do not understand the mentality of some of the musicians I have worked with, who demand payment to rehearse, to get better, to sharpen their craft in order to destroy the whole world on big stages & in the studio. In my mind, a good musician , a true musician, LOVES to rehearse, plays all the time, because they want to get better. Not individually. As a BAND. I am not saying I dont want to ever play with the 'Angel Down' guys again. On the contrary, they all know I would love to get crackin' on some new sounds with them right now. But they are all busy, or worse, I can't get ahold of them. The official word from the guitar & bass player in my current band, through management, is "call us when there's some gigs". What they don't get is, my heart is not just into playing the old music right now, my heart is always in creating new music, & putting out another CD. Then there will be tons of gigs. So specificailly, what I am looking for is: - Guitar &/or Bass Player in the New York City / New Jersey Area. Backround Vocals are a plus. We rehearse in New Jersey, so the closer the better. This doesn't rule you out if you are from somewhere else, but with the amount of jamming I like to do, relocation may be neccessary. - Someone who doesn't need to get paid money to rehearse, write songs, appear in videos, or do promotion. Basically the way it works is , if I get $ , you get $. Sound fair ? - Valid passport is required - No criminal record - No drunks, heavy chain smokers, or druggies need apply. All band members must be completely sober at all gigs & rehearsals. - Should have at least some 'road experience' . Again, this doesn't rule you out if you are Dimebag Darrell or Randy Rhoads at the age of 17 (or any age for that matter), or the unknown 'Adam Lambert' of Lead Guitar. But honestly the chances of me taking someone around the world for the first time are extremely slim. I had one band member that smoked cigarretes so much that he threatened passengers in an airport in Germany because he couldn't "go have a smoke". Goodbye! - Drummers Need Not Apply. I am very fortunate to have the best drummer in rock, Bobby Jarzombek, here in this band to stay. When we were offered the 5 shows this summer, Bobby replied with an enthusiastic 'Yes, let's rock', within minutes. That's what I'm talkin' about! There are also 2 drummers locally that we can rock with. If every band member was as pro as Bobby, it would be the best band ever. He is the standard, as anyone who jams with him knows. - Internet tryouts are preferred. If you have a myspace page with songs, pix , videos etc, that is perfect . Email links to 'Bach Band' at: sebastianbachangeldown@yahoo.com . Or you can mail a promo package with CD & or DVD to: Bach Band PO Box 215 Lincroft NJ 07738 USA Packages will not be returned. -Don't try to impress me with playing old Skid Row songs. That is the easy part. It just ain't about 'what happened in 1991' anymore. My intention is always to create new music that is better than anything I have ever put out. That will take every ounce of time, passion, commitment, heart, balls , & fury we got. If you think you can write a better song than '18 & life', 'I Remember You', 'Youth Gone Wild', 'American Metalhead', 'Monkey Business' , or 'Stuck Inside', I wanna meet you. I'm sure the writers of all of those songs can write even better songs than those. But, they do not ever show any new music to me, or write any new music with me. Truth is , I am bored as f**k right now. Does anyone want to rock? Bring it. Sebastian Bach

VERY VERY DISSAPOINTING to read that good old money has come between making good music again...I swear, SOME people (musicians) just dont know when they are onto a good thing do they...? If people are going to have that ego money driven attitude, stuff them, he dosent need people like that in the Band.

Wow, I can not imagine the stress and frustration he must have gone through over the last few years. And then to come out with something so honest and heartfelt straight to the public.
Sebastian Bach, you have just broken my respecto-meter.
At the same time, this is an incredible opportunity for some aspiring guitar and bass players. If he can find the people he is looking for (and I'm sure there are thousands out there), there is no end to the brilliance they could come up with.
Good luck, Sebastian, we'll always be behind you!

Lokking forward to seeing where this goes. Baz,Bobby & 3 new guy's.
Is Charlie still in the band?
I think Rob & Johnny have made a mistake big time. Loved the songs Stuck inside & Stabbin Daggers & was looking to see if Rob brought something like Scratch like cat or through these eyes to Baz band.
Baz deserves a real band that wants to kick ass with him. As a Metal Mike fan IM going to miss him on the flying V but again Baz needs guys who want to Rock, thrash & harmonies together.
To bad Evan & Scott are busy or are they?

i wish al pitrelli and scott ian would join him again. i mean it would be really killer ! more than killer in fact. That would kick ass! --------------------------- ----------------------------- -------------------------------------- I wonder if Baz has considered working more with Justin Murr (Bass) Liberty & Justice They did a song together back in 2006 called Another Nail. Justin has also worked with Stephen Percy,Mark Slaughter among others. The guy loves music & is not to far from Baz IM sure he would be willing to write & record music with Sebastian,Baz if you read this here is his Email address justin@libertynjustice.net. Another Nail is a very cool song IM sure you 2 could create even more. Another guy that comes to mind is Vinnie Vincent(KISS/VVI) He has help to write some of KISS all time great songs,Unholy,I love it loud,Exciter,Lick it up ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I still think Baz will have John 5 on his new CD as a special guest but IM not sure what his commitment to Rob Zombie is?

John 5 maybe, but Vinnie? he's way... the wrong...dude?
He really needs a solid thumping Guitarist, he's missed that since Skid Row, I know ya'll like Mike..etc, but they don't have "it"...
Skid Row together did... Zakk does, Slash does... (even though Zakk crushes him with skill, but not soul)
I love Sebastians Adam thang... that was cool, what a great, GREAT singer.

I can not believe it! My jaw dropped while reading it. I was "feeling" that something is not ok but never thought it was this bad. Not nice. So fucking sad and I'm so I hope he'll find asap the best guys who really want to rock with him, write songs etc. Thank you Bobby being Baz's real friend. He needs true friends. I've held a guitar hmm maybe once and when I sing my daughter says shut up... so you want me to join your band... maybe not. If I had the talent I'd so love to rock with Mr Sebastian Bach - without any money. Need to add one thing here too. He really has given the credit to people who have done songs with him. So tell me why... He heard my wishes. This pic!! Sweet!!

Just read that Anthrax is in need of a "NEW" singer!!!!! Baz with Anthrax would KICK ASS!!!!! Also means Scott is free, maybe it's time for Damnocracy/Savage Animal to TAKE IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know Cincy keeps pushing the names Zakk Wylde & Slash but as cool as that could be I doubt we will ever see it in this life time. I could not See Baz on tour with Guns n Roses if Slash was in his band.

Sebastian also posted this on Facebook in answer to some responses that were made to the news there. (And I'm biting my tongue about that.)
Sebastian Bach at 6:45pm July 21 nobody has left. it's just that as time goes on, i realize this is not what i'm looking for. playing old songs is easy. making up new songs that are even better than the old ones is the hard part.i'm not feeling my current guys are into the task at this time.

I just asked my husband if we could move to NJ, but he said no. He's a great bass player (he played in a really kick ass thrash band until a year or so ago when they split up) but he's too damn modest about his talent *sulk* I hope Baz finds some cool new talented musicians to play with - bringing some new blood into the industry and making some great new music all rolled into one! Good luck with the search, Baz! Fx

Cincy I have to say your dead wrong man. Baz has worked with some great guitarist since his departure from SR. Angel Down is a killer CD & Mike & Baz had great chemistry both LIVE & on record. It did not last but dose not change that AD is AMAZING VV is one of the best song writers in KISSTORY Unholy,I love it loud he also had his own #1 hit with Love Kills. If he & Baz could come up with tunes as classic as those holy shit John 5 is cool loved his work with Rob Zombie,Paul Stanley & Meat Loaf, curious to hear what he & Baz have come up with. I love Zakk's playing & BLS/tunes with Oz but really have not dug anything from Slash since it's 5 o clock some where

As far as recruiting new talent goes, i think all the real talent died out with the 80s.... nowadays every young aspiring guitarist tries to sound like some shitty-ass player like Buckethead....... it's all technique and no emotion.....

Hmm - tough one. I agree that you should never forget where you came from, but the principle of 'evolve or die out' also applies.
I love the fact that Baz is exploring different genres and working with some diverse artists - especially the people you maybe wouldn't have expected him to work with. Look at how amazing AoE turned out, and that was something REALLY different!
I'm sure Baz will always stay true to his love of Rock n' Roll. I think his music may come to reflect different influences and styles, but it will always retain the passion and groove that we've come to associate with him.

Hmm, interesting discussion. I'm thinking that Sebastian not working with the guitarists that metal4life mentioned, and others of that generation, is based on the assumption that they haven't evolved as well. (Not by you Fanglette, but generally speaking.) Maybe they have too, and want to evolve even moreso, just like Sebastian does. And their experience would bring a lot to the table.
Maybe Sebastian's choices are more to do with the type of music he's into himself currently --- that he's choosing from people whom he likes himself at this point in time, pure and simple.

--- and maybe it's all a moot point at this stage anyway, regardless of who anybody thinks he should or shouldn't work with. Maybe now all it boils down to is who will choose to apply for the positions based on the work ethics, conditions and ideals Sebastian has spelled out so clearly. I doubt that he would not listen to someone, new or 'old', famous or not, if they have the same attitude to creating great new music that he does. Oh and if what they present to him -- ahem -- kicks his dick in the dirt.

Maybe Sebastian's choices are more to do with the type of music he's into himself currently --- that he's choosing from people whom he likes himself at this point in time, pure and simple. "Evolving as musicians".... that's sounds like an expression coined by a record company executive who's looking for the "next big thing".... Maybe it's just me, but in the musical culture i come from, tradition is wayyyy more important than "originality"... I'd rather listen to Beethoven's 5th or Paganini's 24 caprices for the 1000th time than some shitty-ass new music that's passed off as "original" ... Might as well listen to the one-legged banjo player on Park street if ur looking for "original" music... What's originality anyway?? It's just an excuse for the record companies to discover a new sound which is then turned into a trend. Then after they have milked that trend dry, they look for a "new" trend again, leaving talented musicians in the gutter broke, with nothing but scraps to feed off..... That's why in 2009 Coldplay is selling out stadiums and a real talent like sebastian is struggling to make and meet..... Until the middle of the 20th century, music was all about "tradition".... but suddenly with the major record labels gaining control... the focus shifted to "originality"..... and today gimmicky bands are doing anything to be original..... Can u imagine a sober Aerosmith?? or a sober rolling stone.....?? or Pantera reuniting without Dimebag darrell?? Can u imagine Judas priest wearing anything but leather on stage?? Can u imagine Iron Maiden without Eddie?? Can u imagine Thanksgiving without turkey?? Can u imagine 4th of July without apple pie?? well, I can't..Bcoz some things shouldn't and musn't change..... So i'm sorry, but if evolving means changing into something i'm not, then count me out... I remember baz proudly claiming in an interview that he "hasn't changed for better or worse" and that he said "this is what i'll be for the rest of my life"..... I hope he still lives by that credo..... I will always love baz.... but when i think of baz.... i will always associate him with a certain sound......... and that's what i expect from him........

Trivium,Dragonforce,Shine Down & Disturbed are all great & have killer guitar sounds. I don't think for a second Baz is trying to be something he's not & that includes being 20 years old to. Reb & Paul are great don't get me wrong, but Paul "LIVES" in Japan,he's not even in the same country & if IM not mistaken Mr. Big is Reunion touring as we speak. Could not say what Reb or Doug are doing at all. I said Vinnie Vincent not cause he's a 80's guitarist but cause I love the songs he has written, but in the end Baz has to get people he wants. I love the Angel Down line up Mike,Johnny,Steve & Bobby but it was to good to last:-( Really it started to show when Steve was gone. I still can't wait to hear what Baz has coming next. While Im on here I wonder what Mike Star(Alice in chains) is up to? He always' had a great Bass sound.

While Im on here I wonder what Mike Star(Alice in chains) is up to? He always' had a great Bass sound. Well, my friend Ace.... i listen to all those newer bands that u mentioned..... trivium, dragonforce, Disturbed... all of them.... i like all of those bands... but it's all expressionless shred guitar..... they are not worth a crust on Reb Beach's underwear.... Can Trivium play those soulful, bluesy bends around the minor pentatonic like George Lynch?? Can those bands abuse the whammy bar like Reb beach, Brad gillis... or Dimebag darrell?? Can they play those beautiful vibratos like Neal schon or Andy timmons..?? the answer to all of them is NO.. But that's the kind of guitar sound i prefer to go alongwith Baz's voice.... And Mike starr??? Alice in chains?? That stupid band of grunge posers?? Let me refresh ur memory -- It was fucking "GRUNGE" that put Skid Row and a whole lot of other great bands out of business... it was grunge that put sebastian out of business... if it not had been for grunge Skid Row wud still have been rockin out and kickin ass... There isn't a more overrated genre in the world than grunge... It's the exact antithesis of evrything that rock'n roll stands for.... Bobby Dall of Poison, Bruno ravel from Danger danger and Jerry Dixon from Warrant are all better bassists than Mike starr... I'll commit suicide if baz associates with any musician from a grunge band.... I read somewhere Baz going on record saying he "HATES" grunge.... i'd like him to stay that way... I'm not judging whether Baz fraternising with ppl like Jamey jasta is "good" or "bad".... i'm just suggesting that there's an ulterior motive behind it all... Baz wants to be seen with the "it" crowd... But if baz puts out a record that ends up sounding like HateBreed then i'm definitely gonna shoot myself in the head..... BCoz Hatebreed = Downtuned Guitars + Scratchy vocals + No guitar solos.....

The part where Baz says... "Please don't try to impress me by playing old skid row songs" is particularly disappointing.... I don't think Ozzy would tell any young guitarist auditioning for his band to "not play Mr. crowley or Paranoid"..... And what's with the whole "it's not about what happened in 1991 anymore" talk... ? U know something's wrong when a man goes out of his way to declare in EVERY SINGLE interview that "he is over his past, he is sick of ppl asking him about 1988, he is sick of reality shows about "the old days" blah blah blah.." And Baz is doing all this whilst enjoying the royalty checks from the first two Skid Row albums, which incidentally, were released in the time frame he so despises..... I clearly remember Baz giving a lot of diss to Poison in some of his interviews ..... everytime anyone got close to mentioning Poison or 1989, he threw a hissy fit... And then, out of nowhere, last year he toured with Poison.... As a Poison and Sebastian fan, i can tell u, that didn't make any sense to me at all.... I mean what's going on?? I hope i'm wrong, but is he doing things for the paycheck?? and then to turn around and say that "i make music for the love of making music.." ..... just makes his statement all the more dubious.... I remember Baz giving the diss to A&R great John Kalodner!!! That really cracked me up.... ;D He said John was "retro".......... WTF!!... I mean that dude helped discover and build the careers of some of the greatest artists ever including Steve vai, David coverdale etc etc... Sebastian had absolutely no business calling him a "retro"......

PPL what is happening in here?
We are his supporters. Meaning we should be there beside him no matter what, that's what I thought.....?
I understand and know this is frustrating to us fans, however IMAGINE how FRUSTRATING this must be to Sebastian!!! Let alone have his fans bitch about his career. Not one of us can honesty have any real insight about him or his life!
For any band to actually "work" well together is like finding a needle in a hay stack, but the needle is there to be found!! NO one knows this more than Sebastian, or anyone of his calibre. Regardless of talent if the passion is not there its just technique. Besides, a great passionate player from some other successful band or a nobody doesn't necessarily mean they will be right for the job either, it has to fit to what Sebastian has in mind, soo many aspects, its freaking crazy. my 2 cents worth
Respect Sebastian!
