Again sebastian hasn't wasted an opportunity to knock his contemporary artists from the 80s.... He's jumped at the first chance to diss his fellow rockers from the 80s.... www.noisecreep.com/2009/08/25/sebastian-bach-hates-nostalgia-loves-country/ I LOVE Baz, but this is sickening.... Ok, i agree some of the musicians from the 80s have fallen on hard times, but now that Baz gets airtime and exposure on TV he uses the platform to diss the very genre that made him a star He knocks those 80s musicians just when they are down?? He has gone on record saying "some people just wanna make the same record over and over again".... I want to ask Baz just one question -- which people?? Just give us names Baz, cos i'm goin freakin crazy here... If anyone here has got any names, then don't hesitate to mention them, coz i wanna know what Baz is getting at.. Baz, If some of ur fans are taken with just 3-4 tunes that u put out 20 years ago, then it's entirely their problem, not the genre's problem.... Don't blame other musicians for your own problems.... I know sometime back i noticed someone on this board dissing Winger and comparing the band to Metallica...... which is just laughable..... coz as a musician who's played the guitar for 11 years now, i can tell you with a degree of confidence that Winger OWNS Metallica in every respect.... Metallica could never compose a "Rainbow in the rose" and Kirk Hammett could never play a solo as soulful as Reb Beach in "Headed for a heartbreak"... I've covered both bands with my band so i would know... It's sad that some people Form their opinions from watching Beavis and Butthead...

Dude, relax a little - I don't think he's intending to attack anyone. I think he's just encouraging people (artist and fans) to seize the opportunities they have, and keep progressing, rather than just taking the safe route of reproducing the same thing over and over and in order to please the crowd. He's been saying that very same thing since Slave came out and everyone was so surprised by the progression the band had made towards a heavier sound, rather than just replicating the debut. It's a general attitude towards art, not a dig at anybody.

i think sebastian just likes doing things that are FUN You are exactly right Leanne, not to mention w/ friends who are 'very' genuine to him! I have heard alot of negativity about JR but you know he is one of the most genuine 'REAL' ppl you could meet, it's great to have friends like that and I'd bet you Sebastian thinks the very same way. I personally love all genre's of music, of course I love my 80's rock we all do but there is such a wide span of music and with Sebastian's versatility and his range he can go whichever direction he wants and make it work so how many artist can actually do that? Mot too many but b/c he has branched out into country which I LOVE BTW....Ppl just can't grasp it. Ppl need to keep in mind that Sebastian's first love is and always will be his rock n roll but he is also a true musician who isn't afraid to grow with the times. He is not some starving artist just taking 'whatever' to pay the bills if we all remember he did recently turned down a 75,000.00 deal and yes that's a whole lotta zero's but he he turned it down why? because it was all about THE PAST and Sebastian is so over that and moving on with the times now and I can totally understand that. This is only my opinion and my perception of how Sebastian chooses his next endeavors. It's not about the $$$$ with Sebastian, sure I'm sure the green is all good but he's just out there doing what makes him feel good and he's enjoying every minute of it and as a fan that makes it all the more worth it to me. o.k I'll climb off my soap box now because I always pop in here to see what's going on and I was hoping to see a pic of our newest lil Baz fan but I came across this first and although I don't respond much I had to back up Leanne's statement. Goodnight to all, jojo

Knowing Sebastian I don't really think he was dissing his fellow rockers, he is not only an artist but also a 'fan' just like us when it comes to music and even though we'll all love the old classic skid row days songs and Sebastian has his signature on those songs b/c he is and always will be the voice behind skid row plainly goes to show whenever they advertise 'skidrow' here or even on my cable tv when they play a classic skid song they ALWAY use Sebastian's name and picture instead of Johnny Scab-astian which I feel he's the lead singer of 'that' band they need to advertise hiiiiiiiiiiis voice and picture and not use Sebastian's so that he can create his own signature for their band that Sebastian is no longer in. His roots are always and will be ROCK N ROLL dude what's nothin wrong with alittle bit of country in the mix. When you are Sebastian Bach you can even make country rock!!! Not trying to stir nothing up here honestly, just the way I see it and I hope you can understand that. jojo

What he said was:
I think it was meant in general terms - chill dude!

the wot scale now?? sorry dude i dont know about all the tech bullshit that goes along with fretboard wankering (im a blues man hendrix/zepplin etc)... and the dude from winger can probally run circles around kirk but as a whole i think they suck.. i didnt mean to offend you (not my problem if i did - its in the eye of the beholder) but i do say what i think and i think that metallica kicks ass.. i agree that some of the members from tallica do bury their heads in there asses (and mabye each others).. but i learned a long time ago to separate the personalitys from the music because most people in rock are asshole's.. some of the biggest twats make the best music ever and if i judged them on their personalitys i wouldnt have any heros...
so in short i like metallica's music and i dont like winger - but you are entitled to say whatever you like...just as i have..
love, peace and rock on...

Dead Star Renegade kicks major ass.. No need for a Mixolydian scale. i dont know what it is either but that hasnt stoped me from making albums, playing on tv and playing my home town arena..(also been riping it up for 20 years - dahm we are old lol) i would take passion and feel over tech know-how any day of the week..

Baz is my idol & i think your reading to much into the words written. IMO frustration is what I got out of the article. Painters don't paint in black n white there are many shades of gray & colors blend to make other colors. Baz obviously wants to move forward. Angel Down is an amazing CD yet some fans still call for Youth Gone Wild & I remember you. Some fans demand he rejoin Skid Row,negating the fact that all 5 guy's have not sat in the same room in 13 years. Now there are also those fans who want to strap him to a certain era of musicians rather then let the artist create something new. Baz is working on 2 CDS's thought to be out this year which at the moment dose not seem possible. I'm sure that has Baz frustrated. The Angel Down line up is gone Baz is looking for new musicians to help write the chapter in Bachoagrphy,IM sure that is frustrating. There is an old saying live in the past, get left behind & Baz said many years ago He won't be the one left behind

He has said it many many times that he doesn't want to, he wants to do his new music. To me it'd be ok if he never sang live anymore SR songs because I really want to listen to AD songs and his new stuff. But some way he "has to" sing those SR songs too. Frustration may be the word to describe his feelings this summer, just my guess. I hope he'll find new musicians soon so that they can concentrate on making great new rocking music and forget all bull.

well funny thing is, people dont care about SR atm. they care about baz. SR songs are not considered as "Skid Row" songs they are considered as Sebastian Bach songs. i mean when you listen 18 and life you dont picture rachel bolan. you picture baz. he is the skid row.
i 100% support baz doing his new music. thats what great musicians should do. make their own music in their own style. not being stuck in some kind of genre. like slayer. i love slayer but their 34321412 albums are SAME.

How can u say something like that?? To me skid row was the amalgamation of Rob, Sebastian, Rachel, Snake and Scotti's talents..... In all of the great skid row songs(Quicksand Jesus, Monkey Business etc.), the guitars were as much a part of the song as Baz's vocals.......... We loved Skid row bcoz Baz's vocals blended in perfectly with Snake's guitar work...... and Rachel's Bass combined with Rob's drumming to lay the foundation on which all those great songs were composed....... when i listen to a band, i look for a complete listening experience where all the members get a chance to shine and showcase their talents... and not just one person..... If one person hogs all the attention and limelight then that band is bound to split up or make poor music.... that's why i LOVED Angel down... coz baz assembled a killer team of musicians, all of whom displayed their skills on their respective instruments......

M4L, I agree with what you are saying, but dude, you are a Musician....you are clearly into all the technicalities and musicianship that go along with a Musician who watches / listens to a Band....thats all cool and I know where you are coming from, however....and this is no dig at anyone here who isnt a Muso, so I hope people dont take this the wrong way.....BUT, most people who are not Musicians or who are not into all the scales and the technical abilities of each member of the band, really dont care about all that stuff!!! They see the good looking singer, they hear his / her voice, and they relate to THAT as well as the melody and the hook of the song. They dont relate to the fact that the Bass player is playing some amazing twiddle diddle run with his brand new pedal, or that the drummer just played a 16th and threw in a flam...man thats all technical rubbish that the average Joe who cant play an instrument could not care less about... all they wanna do is ROCK. Sebastian Bach, like it or not, was by far the MAIN focus of Skid Row, by the Media, the Photographers and the Fans. Remember when Baz was on the Cover of Rolling Stone? Where was the Band?? They were not there, because to the Media, Sebastian Bach WAS SKID ROW.....sure the story inside may have involved some pics of the band, but it was all Baz on the cover dude....thats the way the band was portrayed to the public by the Media (and I dare say - Management), so naturally the general public focus was ALWAYS on Baz.....the image he portrayed in Skid Row was one of a larger than life character....the guy is a foot taller than any other member, he was the best looking, he had (and still has) the booming voice.....I can tell you, when my wife sees an old Skid Row film clip shes not focasing in, say, Rachael or Rob....she sees them as background guys and Sebastian as the main focus of the filmclip....I reckon most people would be looking at it in a similar way. I dont blame Baz at all for wanting people to hear his new Music....we've kinda had this discussion before in another thread....Hes not the Sebastian Bach of 1991. Hes the Sebastian Bach of 2009. I dont see Motley Crue dressing the same way and writing the same songs they did in 1988 man, they are trying (and many would say failing hehehe) to remain relevant - to be a 2009 Band....whats wrong with that? The only other thing I will say to you is that im sure that in 15 Years time you will not still be playing one of the songs you wrote say, last year, UNLESS there are people out there demanding that you play it....im sure that in 15 Years time YOU as a musician will have moved on man, and you will look back at your songs from that time and think "wow, what I write now is soooooooooo much better than what i was doing in 2008"....you gotta move forward man, its called "Life's Progression"...

I agree with almost everything u said.... Maybe i just come from a different school of thought...... I always thought of my band as a family..... We hang out together, we share stories and jokes with each other.... I would never put my interests above any other band member's interests or want to hog the centrestage all the time.... To me a band is like a marraige.... there are ups and downs, but when we enter the studio we put all our temporary differences aside and concentrate our energies on making the best possible song/demo....... We weather thru the highs and lows and stick together.... Last year when our drummer got injured.. we took a hiatus and stopped playing shows for 8 months until he came back.... I believe one personality should never become bigger than the band.... That's just what i feel about it... I would like to clarify something here... I'm not a Hater..... Maybe i just care for Sebastian the artist more than Sebastian the personality..... I became sebastian's fan when i heard Livin on a Chain Gang bcoz he could hit an A above high C... Not bcoz of his Larger-than-life persona......... But slowly i came to grow fond of sebastian the human being as well.... but that has never overshadowed my love for sebastian the Artist.... As far as motley crue is concerned..... How does it even matter what they wear?? AC/DC wear school uniforms on stage.... and their sound has remained unchanged for 30 years now..... But nobody questions their relevance.... why is it that always the 80s rock bands have to constantly face scrutiny for their clothing or sound?? Motley crue could wear Klu Klux Klan outfits for all i care.... I would still go to their concerts........ Again it's just me i guess.....

GN'R and VR is another great example. VR is not that good. i mean i dont even remember one of their songs atm. chinese democracy is a brilliant album if you like it or not. "this i love" is a song that only a pure musical genious can write. Without slash duff and izzy, axl is doing a great job. but others kinda fail. it is a wall of text i know but thats how i feel
