Some of the younger readers may not know who Sebastian Bach is but in the late 80's and early 90's Bach was the lead singer for one of the more talented heavy metal bands of that era: Skid Row. At that time Bach had one of the most powerful singing voices in popular music and for all I know he still may. As the lead singer for Skid Row, Bach was apart of a band that pumped out several hits including "Youth Gone Wild", "18 and Life", and "I Remember You".
The latter song is available for 'viewing' here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivFYVAntpw0&feature=channel_page (as of October 5th, 2009).
The video is noteworthy because if focuses on a man who appears to have lost the love of his life and has turned into a transient as a result. The theme of lost love is one that is rarely explored by a heavy metal group and somewhat surprisingly, this video is touching.
However, another reason the video is noteworthy is because the song really opportunes Bach with a stage to showcase his incredible talent. Late in the song, in fact after the climax appears to have already been reached, there are a couple points where Bach, without really going out of key, basically delivers the lyrics by shouting.
At 4:12 in the youtube.com video Bach first demonstrates his power with the lyric "walking hand in hand". About 10-11 seconds later, Bach does the same thing with the lyric "through every endless day" (note the lyrics in the video sound incorrect).
With Bach's powerful performance "I Remember You" should be a more historically noteworthy song than it is currently considered.
