The DB was beset by problems from the start with bands pulling out left, right and centre. All I can say is thank god for Baz. Promoted to headliner after TS pulled out, he really did make the evening come alive... and the band were brilliant.
Most of the support acts were mediocre, with the exception of the reformed Tigertailz who were actually surprisingly good. Y&T sounded VERY dated.
The setlist from Baz & the boys was (in no particular order)...
Slave, Big Guns, Here I am, Piece of me, new track (painmuseum cover), Monkey business, the threat, Frozen, Rock & roll, 18 & life, I remember you, Youth gone wild
The new line-up works superbly. They feel and sound like a completely different band since Metal Mike has joined them. No comparison to the line-up at the Sheffield Corp last year. They were ON FIRE. Crowd going nuts as usual. Highlight... when very few people knew the words to RnR and Seb spotted me singing it word for word, pointed to me and said "you rock".
Come back to Newcastle Seb - if you wanna know which venues to think about, try the Newcastle University or Northumbria University. They've both got suitably sized venues.
In the words of Seb... "I'm well chuffed" (you had to be there... trust me)
Until next time!
Paul

So, TS couldn't get to Newcastle from Germany for the next day but Baz could ? Apparently there was a 'logistical problem' with getting everyone there the day after BYH as it wasn't cost effective to hire a private jet.
It seems, however, that it was quite possible for Baz to arrange transport for himself, band and crew. Just shows complete dedication to me, considering the mileage they have done in the last 3 weeks or so, yo-yo'ing from one continent to another etc !
What that says to me about Twisted Sister, on the other hand, is that they have lost sight of what is important and what rock'n'roll is all about. Do they really "wanna rock" or not?
Anyway, whatever, even though a lot of TS fans would have been really disappointed, it was a blessing is disguise for Baz as he got to headline ! Wayy coool ! Wish I could have been there but my life has been a bit complicated recently and I had to be somewhere else.

Every band has their own 'reasoning' for scheduling (or cancellation of). Don't be so upset with TS, they have their own reasons. Alot of people got pissed at Baz when he had to cancel a show for whatever reason. TS is a great band, I've seen them with Baz (baz was at the show with his wife and son London, and did a song with them. It was a GREAT night!) But Baz of course made things great. Baz has also done alot of shows with TS.

I ain't upset with TS - I didn't buy tickets so I didn't lose out. It must have been really upsetting for a lot of fans, many of whom may have been waiting YEARS for their chance to see TS play live in the UK. If I had booked tickets I would have been going primarily to see TS, as I have not seen them before - Baz being there would have been a fantastic bonus of course, but I've seen him play several times so it wouldn't have been a 'new' experience unlike TS. I know TS had their reasons for cancelling as I stated in my post but in my very considered (and not knee-jerk) OPINION it was pretty lame reason, bearing in mind how long the date had been arranged for. All I can think is that someone in TS's organisation must have screwed up somewhere because its not exactly a big or difficult task to get people and equipment from Germany to Newcastle. You can fly in less than 2 hours and you can drive it in a day. As I said though, was a great opportunity for Baz to headline and play longer, louder and take the final bows of the night ! ;D

We don't know 'everything' that goes on. Usually whats 'stated for reasons publicly'aren't always the exact deal. sometimes its 'personal'. But Baz kicked ass and thats whats important. ;D

Baz was great at Demolition and the band were tight and superb, it was a good set (not as goos as JB's but still good!!) It was fantastic to see Tigertailz again and they were absolutely brilliant, the rest of the bands were not very good at all. I am a bit annoyed with Twisted Sister (and also Anti Product) who both pulled out , if the reason they pulled out was due to there schedule , then why didn't they do it earlier on before all the tickets had been sold!! I think that was out of order!!

I eventually chosed Motley since i found noone to come with me in Newcastle and that it's a long way from the south of France. Also i don't ant to be alone at a concert since it's frustrating to be alone in a moment like that. Next time Baz performs in England , I'll give you a call Paul
