Yes I have the new Ace album.....Ive only listened to it twice so far....I dunno....I need to have a REAL good listen but im not overly impressed with Ace's lyrics so far....it didnt grab me the way i hoped it would on first listen...felt a bit tired and predictable to me. Will give it a real bash over the weekend.

Hey all, very few rock bands make it out to Hawaii, so I was excited to get to see Aerosmith last night. Despite rumors of a falling out between band members, they put on an awesome show. Local band, Friends of Adam were the opening act. They were a bluesy style rock band. The trio played some very good instrumentals and a more than respectable cover of Jimi Hendrix's Voo Doo Chile - complete with playing the guitar behind the back and with his teeth. Aerosmith played just about all of the songs you would want to hear. I am not going to remember the full set list but they opened with Eat the Rich, then Falling in Love is Hard on the Knees. Steven Tyler showed no sign of any injuries he may have suffered from his fall off the stage. They had a curtain around the whole stage with the Aerosmith logo on it. The curtain dropped and there was the band with Steven doing his best spins. During the course of the show Steven acknowledged each band member and Joe Perry did a solo song as well. Steven told a story behind the riff to Walk this Way, that it was actually written in Honolulu, saying that Joe had come up with this very "infectious" and then changing it to "addictive" riff more than 30 year ago when they first played the arena. They played for just over an hour and a half. The only surprise to me was the omission of two songs. They didn't play Dude Looks Like a Lady, or I Don't Want To Miss a Thing. It felt great to be in a real rock crowd and I would highly recommend seeing them if you get the chance.

The only time Aerosmith have ever been to Australia was on the "Pump" tour in about 1990 - so long ago I can hardly remember...Would love to see them back, I cant understand why they never came back here they are VERY popular. Great to hear Steven is back up and going again.

Glad you liked it. I included the openers with you in mind. One of the other things that I thought was cool was that they had Guitar Hero's Joe Perry and the real Joe on split screen on the video screens and of course the real Joe blew cartoon Joe out of the arena.

I really like song Dreamer. Steven's voice is awesome! Dogface, weird that they haven't been touring in Australia! I hope they will!

Yeah, ive never been able to work out why they dont come back...there are always rumours of a Tour, but it never happens...I guess they ask for A LOT of $$$$ from Promoters to bring them out here, and maybe no Promoter is willing to take the risk..?? Def Leppard had'nt been here in 15 years either, but they came back this year and sold out every 15,000 seat arena in the country with no problem at all...Aerosmith would do the same if they came back, I have no doubt.

It must be hugely expensive for a band to tour here and in Oz. The local paper said that Aerosmith brought over $450, 000 worth of equipment with them. They were under a court order to play in Maui because they cancelled a show last year due to scheduling conflicts and a class action suit was brought against them. Anyone who had tix for that show was admitted free to either the show on Oahu on Sunday or the one on Maui tonight, plus they have been ordered to refund any money that people paid for transportation inter-island, car rental and hotel fees. This was an expensive trip for them for sure.

But the risk is the same with other bands too. Aerosmith is a band that most of people know unless they don't keep their heads in the bushes.
It feels so many times: ok, bands go to Sweden but no they're not touring in Finland. Grrr. But if Baz had a show in Sweden and not in Finland I'd travel there. Not so long trip to do.
But bands like AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica sure has remembered our country well. Those tickets are sold out in a short time. \m/
they have been ordered to refund any money that people paid for transportation inter-island, car rental and hotel fees. This was an expensive trip for them for sure.
RnRmom: that sounds scary!! I can't imagine a situation here when that could happen.
