Just got home from the gig and figured the first thing I'd do is tell you all the set list. 1. Slave to the Grind 2. Big Guns 3. Here I Am 4. Stuck Inside 5. Piece of Me 6. 18 and Life 7. American Metalhead 8. Bitchslap 9. By Your Side (more on that later) 9. Monkey Business 10.You Don't Understand (dedicated to the troops fighting the war) 11. Beggars Day (Story in here) 12. I Remember You 13. Youth Gone Wild As regards the 'more on that later' etc. the night had a few dramas. They were going to do 'By Your Side' acoustically but apparently the guitar wasn't properly tuned, which Baz made it clear he wasn't happy about!! So, I guess because of time limits, he decided to go straight into 'Monkey Business' rather than muck around. The 'story in here' bit refers to Baz being called to the side of the stage and having an animated conversation with a woman (I think). Next thing you know, he strides back onto the stage and says (I think), "I've just been told if I don't do 'I Remember You' right now, I've got to get off the stage!" Again Baz!! So that's what they did, followed by him saying they have time for one more song and going into (of course) 'Youth'. To add insult to injury (in my opinion) they began playing some crappy music and turned the lights up while Baz was saying his goodbyes to the crowd before he even left the stage!! I know it's short but it's late and I'm sure dogface probably has something to say as well. (Note: this review and the follow up one below were written with the focus on how the gig went for Sebastian - out of empathy for him. It is NOT a criticism of him or his performance - what songs he did or didn't do in any way. I would be happy listening to him singing anything - anything at all )

Oh and I also got a cool 'Angel Down' T-shirt. I'll take some photos of it tomorrow and post them. There were two styles of the 'Angel Down' shirt available and one with just Sebastian on it. But I love my shirt. It's pretty cool.

Maybe Axl is jealous of all the good reviews Baz is getting and got his set shortened I was reading somewhere??? that they have a curfew for Melbourne and that the promoters paid the fines in advance because they knew the concert would break it - I think that was all it was - pretty rude to interrupt the show though.

Thank you Gemini for posting straight away it must have been late by the time you got home. and a great review for what ever hour of the morning it was when you got home.
Wow I cannot believe they cut his set short, Love to be a fly on the wall so we could know what happened weather it was an Axl tantrum or Venue time limits what ever the drama was, mind you the lights being turned up while Baz was on stage would not have been bad LOL the music would have sucked how rude is that. I feel for you not hearing by your side though. that sucks.
Glad you got a T shirt cannot wait to see it.....
Dogface looking forward to your review...... bet you are all sound asleep at the moment.
Anyone going to tonight's show???

Review from the Age
Axl rises to the occasion for triumphant return
With his braided red hair, leather jacket and dark sunglasses, Axl Rose was every inch the rock star at the Rod Laver Arena last night.
A DUBIOUS chapter in Australian rock history came full circle last night when US rock group Guns N' Roses returned to Melbourne after a 14 year gap.
With the crowd warmed up by energetic sets from Sydney hard rockers Rose Tattoo and Sebastian Bach from Skid Row, Guns N'Roses hit the stage in an explosion of flames with what the anthem of the night, Welcome to the Jungle.
All the old classics followed: It's So Easy, Mr Brownstone, and they dropped in a couple of new songs, including Better, which plodded at first but built into a reassuring, classic Guns N'Roses rock anthem.
The band needed eight players to replicate the sound of the four original band members, but they still oozed the sound of Los Angeles' dark seedy underbelly.
They may have lacked the old chemistry, but this was clearly Axl Rose's show.
With his braided red hair and dark sunglasses, the singer made the crowd feel like no time had passed since their last visit, as he "snake-hipped" and jived his way around the stage.
You can always expected the unexpected with Guns N' Roses, the self-appointed "most dangerous band in the world".
Usually bands playing the arena have to finish up before the 11pm curfew or face fines. For these shows, promoter Paul Dainty paid the fines upfront because Rose — a notorious night owl — refuses to start before 11pm.
Rose is the only original member of the band playing this weekend. After the band split in 1996, he became a Phil Spector-esque recluse, retreating to his Malibu mansion, filled with snakes, religious paraphernalia and weaponry, working away on the band's much-anticipated new album Chinese Democracy.
That album — reportedly 13 years and $US14 million ($A16.7 million) in the making — is yet to appear, although a couple of its songs have appeared in shows.
Guns N'Roses' last Melbourne gig was the sweltering 1993 Australia Day Calder Park show before 70,000 fans. That show was marred by controversy after fans were forced to queue for hours for water and toilets, and many were stranded without public transport.
Last night was a far more civilised affair, mainly because a sell-out crowd of about 12,000 only had to venture to the Rod Laver Arena.
Hardcore fans, many who were returning 14 years later, lined up in the dense fog from 7pm. Dave Pearce, 36, said he enjoyed the smaller queue but still fondly recalled the Calder Park experience.
"You don't care about all that when you're 21," said Pearce, who avoided the Calder traffic jams by sleeping in his car. "But it would be different now at my age and in winter."
"It was our Woodstock," added his mate Dave Ferns, 36.
The band play the Rod Laver Arena again tonight. Tickets are still available.

OK more about the show now I've got all the basics covered. I know I probably made it sound bad but I was just so angry at the way Seb was treated that that was uppermost in my mind when I got home and at 2:30am I just didn't have the energy to add everything I would've liked to. I knew dogface would have good things to say too (which he has in General Mayhem - great review ). But, needless to say, Seb still put on a great show for everyone despite the problems he had trying to do so. You all know how great a performer he is without me having to say it again!! Cocky to the max!! ;D But one thing I would like to add is this. I don't know why his set was seemingly cut short - - OK, I believe Axl was being a bitch too, maybe jealous or whatever - - but, given he did have the problems he did, he was totally vindicated later on in the night. Guns'N'Roses started off really big, brazen and loud but during the middle of the show, with all the guitar solos and the piano one with just a few songs here and there in between, I for one got a bit bored. And I could see others in the audience did too. It made you miss the energy Seb had created in the room with his set and which Guns had taken advantage of with the start of their show, building on it even more with all the lighting effects, huge sound, video screens and pyros (none of which Seb had). I reckon others felt the same because when Seb came back out to do his 'My Michelle' duet with Axl, the crowd really did erupt. And, he outsang Axl with every note!! It was the best I've ever heard him sing 'My Michelle' - note perfect and he did take over the stage. To my mind, if there was anything nasty behind Seb's set being curtailed, that five minutes there showed everyone who the Man, the true professional on the night, really was.

Thats EXACTLY what I thought too...My Michelle was amazing and it just proved how brilliant Sebastian is in front of a big crowd on the big stage. He blew Axl away...I know he dosent like us dissing Axl, and im not, it was just so obvious for everyone in that room to see though. And great stuff Geminiblue thats the same TShirt I got.....I reckon YOU have just given everyone on this Board a WORLD FIRST EXCLUSIVE there, so congrats..ya beat me to it hahahah!!!
I was upset for Baz that he was copping a bit of flack from someone side of stage during his set, but I just thought he handled the whole thing professionally and considered the fans that were there to see him. He could have stormed off...but he didnt, and im so glad he didnt.

I can't figure out the statue in the bottom right corner - what he's holding. Do you think it could be one of his Dad's paintings? Does anyone know if it's the artwork for the CD cover???

I think it must be the cover art to. The shirt must of been printed very recently because all the extra shows they added for the Australia tour have been put on it. I ordered a cd from Baz ebay shop which I got last Thursday and it had a newsletter dated 23 March 07 which said the front and back cover artwork for the new cd was done.

Yes it did Ace. It had a really cool picture of Seb on it and was all done in the same brownish tones as the one above. The picture was like a shot you would take of him if you were down below him while he's singing on stage with his legs spread wide. So it's sort of an elongated triangle shape and you can't really see his face. It also has Angel Down and Sebastian Bach printed on it, above and below and there's a little artwork on it, top and bottom. Really cool. Wish I had've got it. But I wanted this one, assuming that it is the artwork of the CD. Maybe aussiegirl, or someone else going to the next shows will buy it and put it up here for us all to see.

Still not sure what he's holding but I guess it really doesn't matter Edit: Found out he's holding the stone in the slingshot that he supposedly used to slay Goliath! The sound was great from where we were sitting this time and I had a really good view as well, my seat being right on the aisle and on a slight angle to the stage. Even when everyone else was up and jumping around I could still see the stage clearly, which is usually a problem for me as I'm only 5' 2" lol.

I bought the one I did because I knew everyone on the Board would love to see it, given that it probably is the cover of the new album. I should've known that dogface would get it as well, being 'more suitable' for the guys, shall we say. Then we could have had photos up of both. Oh well. I'm lucky I've got ONE!
